The 2024 Masters
Scottie with a statement win at Augusta National

One year ago Scottie Scheffler put the green jacket on Jon Rahm. This weekend roles were reversed, as Jon Rahm put it back on Scottie Scheffler.

Scottie Scheffler continued his incredible run of golf as he claimed his second major championship victory, and second win at Augusta in three years. His 9th win since February of 2022.

Since his breakthrough win at The Waste Management in 2022, Scottie Scheffler ranks 1st on the PGA Tour in these categories:

  • Wins

  • Top 5s

  • Top 10s

  • Greens in regulation

  • Avg birdies / round

  • Strokes gained tee-to-green

  • Strokes gained approach

His overall strokes gained stats are only bested by peak Tiger Woods. From a true strokes gained perspective, this week’s performance was the best of his career. As we’ve said in newsletter after newsletter, if Scottie can even be anywhere near average with his putter, there is no one in the world that’s beating him (this week he gained 0.61 strokes putting, won by 4).

Some other noteworthy finishes in the top 10 at The Masters:

Solo 2nd: Ludvig Aberg

In his first major championship Ludvig finishing solo second is an incredible accomplishment for the 24 year old Swede. Over the past few months he’s firmly established himself as an elite talent and it’s going to be exciting to watch him develop over the coming seasons.

T-3: Max Homa

His second consecutive career best major championship finish. He could be peaking towards a major in the very near future. Seems to be getting over the mental block that was preventing him from bringing his best to these events.

T-6: Cameron Smith

Cam Smith has now finished top 10 in 3 of the last 4 major championships. He’s dangerous in these big events. Cam knows that if he can hang around the top 10 or 15 heading into the weekend, his putter can get hot at any minute and he can make a run.

As always a fantastic event at Augusta National. Until next year.
