How will the LIV Golf Rookie Class Handle the Next Level of Competition?
Six new players join LIV Golf for 2025, all with high very high ceilings but not much experience at this level.
Six new players will be joining the LIV Golf roster for the 2025 season and all will be looking to show they’ve got what it takes to compete with anybody in the world.
Tom McKibbin of Ireland turns down his PGA Tour card and joins Jon Rahm’s Legion XIII and he’s the youngest of the new players at just 22 years old.
Tom was just 21 when he finished 18th in the Race to Dubai rankings, earning his PGA Tour card, a card he would later turn down in favor of joining Jon Rahm’s Legion XIII. He’s established himself as one of the best young players in the game and will be looking to elevate his play this year on LIV Golf.
Also 22 years old, but a few months older, is Yubin Jang, a fantastic young player from the Korean Golf Tour. He’ll be joining Kevin Na’s Iron Heads GC after his first year as a professional saw him win twice in Korea with a slew of additional top 5 finishes. If his second year as a professional is as impressive as his first, he’s going to be a great addition to Iron Heads.
Filling the vacancy left by Sergio Garcia opting out of re-signing Eugenio Chacarra is another 22 year old, Luis Masaveu. He’ll join Fireballs GC and look to continue improving his game after a strong amateur career. The Spaniard had two amateur titles, was Low-Am at the Spanish Open twice, and a semi-finalist that US Amateur in 2024.
Filling the spot of relegated Kalle Samooja is 25 year old Danish born player Frederik Kjettrup. Last year on the PGA Tour Americas he won three times and earned promotion to the Korn Ferry Tour for the 2025 season, but when he was offered the opportunity to join Cleeks GC, he jumped on it and will be with them for this season and likely more if he continues his strong play.
After a fantastic year on the Asian Tour in 2024 Ben Campbell missed out on the LIV Golf card offered to the International Series winner when Joaquin Niemann jumped him at the last minute. But with a new vacancy on his roster due to Thomas Pieters joining 4 Aces, captain Bubba Watson thought he’d be a great player to fill the spot. He’d proven he has what it takes to compete at a very high level, and he’ll be looking to do just that as he Ben joins RangeGoats GC for the 2025 season.
While he didn’t end up on a roster and will be playing the 2025 season in 1 of LIV Golf’s 2 wildcard spots, Max Lee will be looking to make the best of this opportunity. An opportunity he earned when he won the LIV Golf Promotions event in December. He’ll not only be motivated by being around the best in the world, he’ll be looking to let everyone know they made a mistake when they didn’t sign him to their roster.

What will the LIV Golf x FOX Partnership Look like?
FOX re-enters the golf space after leaving it not long ago, this time with LIV Golf.
This will be an interesting one for fans. What will the LIV Golf broadcast look like on FOX? Will the commercial load be similar to that of what we see in other broadcasts and how will that affect the flow of the tournament?
LIV is a bit more interesting than other golf tournaments from a broadcast perspective as their entire event fits into a roughly five hour window. When played commercial with limited or no commercials as it as been in the past, these two factors worked perfectly together. Fans weren’t missing much if anything due to commercials, and due to the shortened nature of the events, that was essential.
If LIV Golf has a 5 hour broadcast and a similar commercial load to other golf broadcasts, fans from prior years may feel like they’re missing more than they should have to. LIV Golf Plus will still be offered, though it’s now a $59.99 annual pass (or $8.99 per event) and the commercial load on that is still to be seen.

Can Players That Struggled in 2024 Regain Form in 2025?
Some of LIV Golf’s top players had some real struggles in 2024. Will they be able to turn things around in 2025?
There were some players towards the bottom of the final standings at the end of 2024 that you wouldn’t have expected to see there.
Players like Branden Grace, who had to be re-signed by his team after he found himself in the relegation zone at the conclusion of the season.
Players like Mito Pereira, Ian Poulter, Andy Ogletree, Harold Varner, Bubba Watson, and more vastly underperformed last season.
These are elite golfers that we have seen play at the a very high level, they just couldn’t get any momentum going in 2024. This weeks season opener in Riyadh will offer their first opportunity of the season to show that they’ve spent their offseason the right way and weren’t okay with how they finished last year.
Riyadh will be a fun broadcast to watch, as they’re playing all 3 rounds under the lights, so the views and shot tracers should be very ascetically pleasing. However, most interesting for me will be seeing who’s really been putting in the work and wants to get things turned around.
When you’ve got to beat guys like Joaquin Niemann, Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau and more, there’s not much time for relaxation. Especially because you know those guys have been putting in the work.
